Open enrollment is the period each year when you’re allowed to start, stop or change your health insurance plan. Normally, you sign up around the end of one calendar year for coverage that lasts the full next year.

When can you sign up for health insurance?

If you’re interested in purchasing health insurance on your own, you have several options for purchasing a policy:

  1. Off the Exchange: A Group Access Agent can quote you out for individual insurance directly with the carriers.
  2. On the Exchange: A Group Access Agent can assist you with signing up for a SHOP plan with the Federal or State Health Insurance Exchange.

Life happens, and when it does, your health coverage may have to change. If you experience a qualifying life event that affects your insurance needs, you can take advantage of a special enrollment period.
